SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS SPECIFICATION

1. Introduction

1.1 Purpose

The purpose of this software requirements specification (SRS) is to establish the major requirements necessary to develop the Software Systems Engineering (SWSE) 625 Team Project for the MJY Team. The overall objective of the Team Project is to establish a web site that can be used as a resource for information concerning Software Project Management, with emphasis in the area of Risk Management. The project requirements will define, in general terms, the setup of the web site, topics for available information concerning the Software Project Management topic of Risk Management, and user activities (if any).

1.2 Scope

This web site is being developed for SWSE 625, taught by Professor Richard Bechtold, and is intended to be used by individuals with web access who are interested in obtaining constructive insights into Software Project Management, specifically in the area of Risk Management.

2. General Description

This web site is for users who are interested in accessing current research, publications, tools, and related items in the area of Software Project Management, specifically concentrating on Risk Management. It will accomplish this by posting current academic articles related to Risk Management, listing a bibliography of other relevant publications, providing links to related web sites, and providing a "lessons learned" page. This site is also intended to allow an individual the opportunity to interact in with other users with similar interests.

3. Specific Requirements

3.1 Site Implementation

The Team MJY shall develop a web site containing information concerning the management of software projects. The emphasis of the data contained on the site will be on analysis and management of risk. Current site address is http://www.baz.com/kjordan/swse625/.

3.2 Site Content

The Team MJY WEB site shall contain the following:

  1. a minimum of ten links to other web sites containing related information
  2. a section where MJY Team members can post their draft project documentation for Team review
  3. a bulletin board where interested users can interact with others and solicit peer expertise and input
  4. a section of introductory material where a novice can find links or suggested publications
  5. links to sites maintained by other SWSE625 teams
  6. suggested keywords and links to other web search engines, allowing users to minimize their connection time looking for specific data
  7. a list of or links to a minimum of five tool descriptions of use in managing the Software Process, particularly in managing risk
  8. a "Levity" page where humorous pictures or articles related to the topic can be scanned and posted
  9. a "Lessons Learned" page where users can link to at least ten related experiences with managing risk in a software project
  10. a unique materials section where MJY Team researched and written term papers will be posted
  11. a bibliography of publications of interest, divided by sub-topic with at least five entries per topic
